Empower Your Journey
Solo travel can act as a powerful mirror, helping us confront fears, test resilience, and discover strengths we never knew we possessed. The journey cultivates independence, resilience, confidence, and authenticity.
While it’s one of the most transformative experiences a woman can have, it shouldn’t feel like a leap into the unknown. Z Goes Alone was created to bridge the gap between the dream of independent exploration and the practical reality of staying safe, prepared, and confident on the road.
Whether you are planning your first weekend getaway or a multi-month international journey, my goal is to provide you with the tools and honest advice you need to navigate the world on your own terms, based on 10+ years of solo experience on the road.
Meet Z
I didn’t grow up fearless. I’m naturally introverted and have lived with social anxiety for much of my life. At 22, just two weeks after graduating, I moved to a new country with no job lined up—only a quiet belief that something meaningful was waiting for me on the other side of the ocean. That leap didn’t make me fearless overnight, but it taught me how to trust myself in unfamiliar territory. After a few misadventures traveling with friends—and a bad breakup that forced me to reevaluate everything—I realized I wanted to explore the world on my own terms.
So I did.
What started as one solo trip to Jamaica turned into many. Over the past decade, I’ve traveled alone across continents—sometimes confidently, sometimes awkwardly, sometimes scared, and sometimes deeply at peace. I’ve dealt with missed connections, culture shock, illness, safety scares, and moments of loneliness. I’ve also experienced beautiful cultures, extraordinary kindness from strangers, meaningful soul connections across language barriers, and a growing sense of self-trust that changed the way I move through the world.
Solo travel didn’t make me fearless. It made me self-reliant, aware, adaptable, and free.
She Goes Alone
A Woman’s Guide to Confident Solo Travel
Solo travel changed me in ways I couldn’t have predicted.
It didn’t just show me the world, it showed me who I am when I’m on my own. It taught me how to problem-solve, self-soothe, ask for help, and move through unfamiliar situations with confidence.
Most importantly, it freed me from old limits, from fear disguised as caution, and from the belief that I needed someone else beside me to feel safe or complete.
I wrote this guide because I wish I’d had it before my first solo trip.
And because I believe more women deserve to experience that same freedom—on their own terms.
This guide was built from lived experience—what worked, what didn’t, and what I wish someone had told me earlier.
I believe you can take your safety seriously and live boldly.
I believe fear doesn’t mean stop—it means prepare.
And I believe solo travel can be one of the most grounding, empowering things a woman can do for herself.
If you’re here because you’re standing at the edge your first solo trip, wondering if you’re ready, I’ll say this:
You don’t become confident before you go. Confidence comes because you went.
Who this guide is for?
I created this guide for women who feel the pull to travel alone but haven’t taken that step yet. You might be:
- Excited by the idea, but unsure where to start
- Confident in many areas of life, yet hesitant about doing this alone
- Overwhelmed by conflicting advice (“Just go” vs. “Be careful”)
- Craving independence, but unwilling to ignore safety concerns or other preconceived notions about solo travel such as loneliness and boredom
- You are at a personal crossroads—perhaps following a graduation, a career change, or the end of a relationship—and are ready to rediscover your independence
- You’ve had enough of “group travel” compromises and you are finally ready to prioritize your own itinerary and pace
- You are ready to prove to yourself exactly what you are capable of when you stop waiting for the “perfect” time or the “right” travel partner
If you’re looking for reckless encouragement, this isn’t it.
If you’re looking for grounded, honest guidance from someone who’s been there, this guide was created for you. Everything here is based on real solo travel experience, including mistakes, uncomfortable moments, safety lessons, and the quiet wins that didn’t make it onto Instagram.
You won’t just learn what to do. You’ll learn why, so you can make the decisions that feel right for you.
